How Deckhive is changing - FAQs
In our previous blog, we outlined the changes we’ll
soon be making to Deckhive. In this post, we’ll answer your questions about
what this means in practice.
If you already have a Deckhive account, we will be emailing you directly with more info on what you need to do. Our messages sometimes get caught in spam filters, so it’s a good idea to add hello@deckhive.com to your safe list (and keep an eye on your junk folder).
What will the main changes be?
The most significant difference will be the introduction of 3 subscription plans - Free, Starter and Unlimited. These will replace the current system of purchasing individual card decks and guest passes.
We will also be making a few changes to the way that guests join a session, which will make it quicker and easier to get people started.
When will these changes take
effect?
We expect to move over to the new
model early on Thurs 17 June (UK time). Until then, things will continue as they are.
How will the move to subscriptions impact existing users?
Going forward, only users on the Starter and Unlimited plans will be able to start (or continue) sessions using card decks from our library (users on the Free plan will be able to use the basic Starter Decks only).
All existing users will automatically move onto the Free plan when we switch over. However, we will be emailing every user with details of how to access a trial period on the Unlimited plan.
What decks will be available?
There will no longer be a need to purchase individual decks of cards. Instead, users on one of our paid plans will be able to start a session with ANY of the decks in our library, giving you the freedom to use the best deck for your needs.
In the coming months we will be adding more decks too, giving you even more possibilities.
Users on the free plan will only have access to a limited selection of decks (Starter Decks). Currently this includes the 'Demo Deck' and the '20 Questions' deck, but we will soon be adding one or two more.
Will I be able to use decks I have already purchased?
Will I be able to use a card deck that I have already created myself?
You will only be able to continue using, or sharing, decks you created yourself if you are on a paid plan.
Will I still be able to access saved sessions?
Is there a limit to the number of sessions I can run?
Our Free and Starter plans allow you to activate up to 5 sessions per month. As for our Unlimited plan... well, you can work that one out!
When you start a new Deckhive session it will initially be in draft mode, giving you the chance to prepare if you wish. Once you’re ready to invite other people, you will simply activate the session. Once active, it will remain accessible for 12 hours. You will be able to start as many draft sessions as you like, only those you activate will count towards your monthly allowance.
Will I still need Guest Passes?
No. You will be able to invite as many people as you like to each of your sessions, without any additional cost.
What happens if I have unused Guest Passes?
If you purchased Guest Passes that you haven't used yet, we will offer you an appropriate amount of credit towards your subscription. You should have already received an email about this, so please contact us if you haven't seen that (perhaps check your junk folder first).
Will I be able to move plans?
We recognise that most users will
have peaks and troughs in their need for platforms like Deckhive, so we will
make it easy for you to upgrade and downgrade your level of subscription as
required.
When can I sign up?
We will be opening up for
subscriptions on 17 June. If you want to use Deckhive before
that, you just need to buy decks and guest passes as before.
